Hearth & Hide was created from a desire to return to simple, honest skincare made with natural ingredients you can trust.
Based in New Zealand’s Mackenzie Country, our products are inspired by the rugged high-country lifestyle and made to nourish and protect hardworking skin naturally.
The journey began after my daughter struggled with eczema linked to a dairy intolerance. Trying to find gentle, natural products for her sensitive skin led me to learn more about traditional tallow skincare and the benefits of simple, nourishing ingredients without unnecessary additives. What started as something personal for our family quickly grew into a passion for creating skincare that others could trust too.
Using grass-fed beef tallow sourced from Cloudy Peaks Station, each balm is handcrafted in small batches with carefully selected ingredients to support dry, sensitive, and everyday skin care. The beef is processed through the family-owned Cloudy Peaks butchery located in Timaru, where the specific fat used for our tallow is carefully set aside before being returned back to us on the station to render and craft by hand, creating a true farm-to-skin connection.
Rich in vitamins and deeply moisturising, tallow skincare has been used for generations as a natural way to care for skin. Hearth & Hide is for those wanting to simplify their routine and return to products made with purpose, quality, and care.
